Finchampstead Ridges photograph by Helen White

The morning after

Strong gales and heavy rain in the night kept me awake watching the tree by my window almost doubling over. By early morning, the day was all radiant again; and, oh, the heady aroma of wet autumn forest…I only wish I could convey that too.

Photograph of path through woodland

Under the greenwood

A path beneath the first vivid green leaves of springtime; and, here, I wanted to capture something of the mystical quality of walking beneath a tree canopy that leads into the depths of the woodland, even in fullest daylight. There’s something timeless, familiar and compelling about walking such a path surrounded by the greenwood trees of the ancient forest.
